Master of International Affairs in Peace and Conflict Studies Scholarships 2011


The Graduate Studies in International Affairs (GSIA) program in the Australian National University College of Asia and the Pacific, in partnership with the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO) and Bjørknes College, offers one scholarship each year for full-time study in the Master of International Affairs specializing in Peace and Conflict Studies degree program. Tuition fees will be covered by The Australian National University and Bjørknes College; and students will receive some funding towards living costs as a stipend. Please be aware that it may take up to four weeks after arrival in Canberra before you receive your stipend payment. Recipients of the Oslo Piece Scholarship should come prepared with their own personal funds to support them for this period.

Application Procedure for International Students
Assemble supporting materials:
An original or certified copy of complete academic transcript(s) – listing subjects taken and results achieved. (Original and certified English translation where applicable.) Please note that in order to receive an unconditional official offer of study from University Admissions you will eventually be required to submit either original copies of your documentation or copies certified according to the following instructions.

Proof of satisfaction of English language requirement (see below for details) if necessary.

At least two letters of academic reference with Referee`s Questionnaire forms. These must be sent directly to the GSIA office either by email, fax or post (contact details appear immediately below).

  • Hedley Bull Scholarship applicants must submit three letters of academic reference and a written statement making a case for being granted a scholarship.
  • Peace and Conflict Studies and Oslo Peace Scholarship applicants must submit three letters of reference two academic and one professional) and a written statement of interest.

If you are seeking admission on the basis of a combination of an academic qualification and relevant work experience, you must submit a CV and a supporting statement.
