Eligibility for Application

Graduate School

  1. Master’s degree program
  • The applicant and his or her parents are not citizens of Korea.
  • The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree (4-year program) or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than Bachelor’s degree.
  • Doctoral degree program
    • The applicant and his or her parents are not citizens of Korea.
    • The applicant must have both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree.

    Graduate School of Logistics

    1. Master’s degree program
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (or equivalent qualification)
    • Those with the experience in logistics business are given extra points(only for MGLM).
  • Doctoral degree program
    • Master’s degree from an accredited university (or equivalent qualification)

    Application for 2012 KGSP

    1. Both applicant and his/her parents must be citizens of the foreign country.
    2. Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in Korea for a long period of time.
    • Applicants have to submit the Personal Medical Assessment (included in the application form) when he/she apply for this program, and then submit an Official Medical Examination Report issued in a hospital to NIIED after passing the NIIED Selection Committee(Selection). A serious illness reflected in the examination results will be the main cause of disqualification from the scholarship.
  • Applicants should be under 40 years of age as of September 1, 2012
  • Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of August 31, 2012
    • Applicants who have records of enrollment or graduation at the academic degree program in Korea will not be allowed to apply for 2012 KGSP.
  • Applicants should have average grades/marks/scores 80 or higher out of 100 from the previous attended institution.
    • If the grade is difficult to convert to percentage, official explanatory documents from the attended university are required.
  • Applicants who have scores of Korean language proficiency test(TOPIK, KLPT) or English language proficiency test(TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS) will get advantages at the first evaluation or be selected first. Submission of Korean or English language scores is not mandatory.
  • Applicants for Engineering or Natural Science field will be selected first among students who get equal scores on final selection evaluation.
  • Notes

    • All documents that are not in Korean or English must be translated and notarized.
    • Applicants for doctoral program should submit certificates of degree and transcripts about both Bachelor’s and Master’s program.
    • If you had been admitted through exams into the third year of Bachelor program, you have to submit your enrollment and GPA records from your previous university.
    • Applicants from domestic universities should submit one original document and 3 extra copies.
    • Applicants who want to get recommendation from Inha University should submit a recommendation letter from a professor at Inha University to the graduate school office during application period.
    • Documents not in English or Korean must be accompanied by a complete and accurate English or Korean translation certified by the issuing institution.
    • Applicants who are expecting the adequate degree should present their diploma by September 1, 2012 before entry.
    • Applicants must accurately fill out the health checklist based on truth. All successful applicants must take a medical exam (including an HIV and TBPE drug test). If the results show that the applicant is unfit to be a KGSP student, selection will be canceled.
    • Published papers : submit 1~2 copies.
    • Awards : submit copies with confirmation seal of Inha University to NIIED. (Inha University should confirm the original.)
    • Applicants who are currently studying in Korea or graduated from Korean university must submit one recommendation letter of the head of department of the relevant university.

    Application Procedure

    1. Evaluation Criterion for Admission
      1. Evaluation by respective department : former university, grades in the previous degree program, Korean or English language proficiency scores, study plan, interview, etc.
      2. Evaluation by the graduate school board
    2. Selection Criterion for 2012 KGSP
      1. Evaluation by the special committee : former university, grades in the previous degree program, Korean or English language proficiency scores, personal statement, recommendation letter, study plan including research performances, interview, etc.
      2. Country which the applicant comes from and majors which he or she wants to apply for will be considered during evaluation

    Dormitory

    • Inha University’s first dormitory, with one story below and five above ground, accommodate up to 1,010 students. In addition to regular Inha students, Woongbijae houses exchange students, and is fully accessible for handicapped students. “Woongbijae” offers LAN access ports, satellite TV reception, DID telephones, and a computer room. Other facilities include a cafeteria, a laundry room, a small convenience store, an outdoor multi-purpose space, and a lounge area, providing students with a comfortable living environment. The second dormitory, Biyongjae, which opened in March 2006, can accommodate up to 1,150 students. The Korean Government Scholarship Students have priority for the room, but they can use only quadruple rooms.
    • Students of KGSP will get priority for dormitory, but only for quadruple.
    • Dormitory fee can be changed.
    • Dormitory fee includes meals(breakfast and dinner) during weekdays(Mon ~ Fri).

    Scholarship

    Graduate School

    • Jungseok International Scholarship
      • Korean Government Scholarship Students are allowed to get entrance fee and the tuition fee which excess KRW 5,000,000 from the graduate school. (NIIED will support their tuition within KRW 5,000,000.)
    • Assistantship Scholarship
      • Lab assistant and Teaching assistant will get around KRW 1,000,000 for one semester as Assistantship Scholarship. To be LA or TA, you should achieve recommendation from adviser professor and individual department and get permission to engage in activities other than those permitted by the status from Immigration Office. Korean Government Scholarship Students are allowed to apply for LA or TA.
    • Research Allowance
      • While studying at Inha University, international students who participate in a certain research project of BK 21 or National Research Centers have chance to achieve Research grants. According to your major area and adviser professor, research projects which you can take part in will be determined.

    Graduate School of Logistics

    • International Scholarship
      • Korean Government Scholarship Students are allowed to get the entrance fee and the tuition fee which excess KRW 5,000,000. (NIIED will support their tuition within KRW 5,000,000.)

    Korean language Training Center

    • The rest of enrollment fee other than Korean Government Scholarship will be provided for students of KGSP.

    Support programs for international students

    Graduate School

    1. Orientation for new international students in the first week of each semester
    • For new international students in undergraduate and graduate program and new exchange students.
    • Contents : notice about course registration and graduation requirements, campus map, how to use Inha portal system and library, etc.
  • Assignment of Inha buddies and mentor students for new international students
    • Inha buddies(Korean students) will help new international students during Korean language program
    • Mentor students(international students who come from the same country or are at the same department) will help new international students during degree program.
  • Counseling professors for international students
    • English : Professor Moon, Seung Jun at Communication and Information
    • Chinese : Professor Shin, Han Yong at International Trade
    • Legal advice : Professor Won, Hye Wook at Law
  • Field trip and international culture festival for international students
    • Field trip : Hahoe village at Andong(2007), Gongju and Buyeo(2008), Ganghwa Island and Gyeongju(2009), Hoam Art Museum, Everland, and Jeju Island(2010), Mt. Seorak(2011)
    • Culture Festival : Food Festival, Cultural Performances, etc. (In May)
  • Inha Student Ambassadorship
    • Selection : 14 international graduate students from 11 countries.
    • Admission counseling for new applicants, Guide admission process, etc.
  • Advanced level of Korean language course to in-depth Korean language proficiency

    Important Notes

    1. Application for Graduate School
    • 2012 KGSP applicants who want to enter directly degree program for fall semester of 2012 should apply for both 2012 KGSP and graduate school’s admission in March, 2012. Only students who hold level 5 or 6 of TOPIK can apply for these two program at the same time.
    • After being selected as a student of 2012 Korean Government Scholarship Program, he or she should take additional admission process for the graduate school later.
  • Recommendation from Inha University for 2012 KGSP
    • Students can apply for only one of the institutes among Korean embassy in their countries, universities in Korea, and institutes for adopted children. If students apply for more than one university, he or she will be excluded from the selection.
    • Transferring to a different university is not permitted in any case after confirming the host university.
    • Graduate School of Logistics will not recommend candidates for Korean Government Scholarship Program. (Students who were selected as 2012 KGSP with a recommendation from Korean embassy or institutes for adopted children are allowed to enter the Graduate School of Logistics.)
